Hindupur, Andhra Pradesh – Land of Silks & Temples
We recently visited to Hindupur, Hindhupur is a city and a municipality in Anantapur district, Andhra Pradesh. Hindupur is historically famous for Silks and also the second biggest town in the Anantapur District. It is situated at a distance of 100 kms from the Garden city of Bangalore and 14 kilometres from Lepakshi. The nearest airport is Bangalore’s International Airport – Devanahalli (70 km), Hyderabad (460 km) & Chennai (400 km).
Veerabhadra Temple – Lepakshi
We visited Lepakshi, Lepakshi is a very important historical and archaeological site situated 14 Kms away from Hindupur. Veerabhadra Temple is one of the best examples of Vijayanagar style of architecture; Veerabhadra Temple is the identification of architectural beauty. The magnificent temple complex portrays the historical and architectural excellence in its best colour.
Attractions
Nandi Bull: The huge statue of Nandi Bull made of single granite stone is one of the main attraction of Lepakshi.
Pillared Hall: The pillared hall of every temple complex of Lepakshi is object to watch pointedly. Famous for its painting on its ceiling, pillared halls of temple complex are treat for heritage loving tourists.
Veerabhadra Temple, one of the most prominent among all temples of Lepakshi was built by saint Agastya, which was further developed by Virupanna, a treasurer of Vijayanagar king. The 38 monolithic pillars of the temple are best characteristic of its magnificence.
