Nagalapuram & Veda Narayana Swamy Temple
Nagalapuram is a village in Chittoor district in the state of Andhra Pradesh. Nagalapuram is situated around 70 km from Tirupati and around 75 km from Chennai on the way to Tirupati via Tiruvallur route. The town has a very famous temple of Vedanarayana swamy. Narayana Swamy Temple
Temple reflects the vijayanagara architectural style Veda Narayana Swamy idol facing west. It is believed that Lord Sri Maha Vishnu, in the form of Matsya, killed the rakshasa (demon) Somakudu here, and retrieved the Vedas from the latter. Matsya (means Fish in Sanskrit) is generally represented as a four-armed figure with the upper torso of a man and the lower of a fish.
Architecture
The temple was constructed by Sri Krishnadeva Raya, the Vijayanagara emperor, and is a fine specimen of the Vijayanagara style of architecture.
Attraction
The sun’s rays fall on the main deity between 1800 hrs and 1815 hrs. On the first day, Sun fall on the feet, on the second – on the chest and on the third – on the forehead, depicting worship by Sri Surya Bhagavan (the Sun God) himself. This will happen on March 24th, 25th & 26th every year. Temple architecture is done in such a way that during these three days.
Things to Remember
- Temple architecture and the all the status are very beautiful, spend more time and enjoy the temple architecture.
- Don’t spoil the status in the temple.
- Temple is very neat; Tirupathi Devastanam is maintaining this temple. Please avoid throwing plastic bags and waste paper inside the temple.
